JUNIOR doctors in South Devon braved the wind and rain this morning as they joined thousands of colleagues throughout the country in a four-day strike.

Both Torbay Hospital and The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital had picket lines outside them just after 7am today  as the 96-hour walkout, part of an ongoing dispute about pay, got underway.

NHS Devon say they are expecting service to be very busy during the industrial action  and have asked people to help by choosing the right service for needs.

The strike is likely to to cause the  cancellation of  thousands of appointment and operations and NHS officials have warned of unprecedented disruption, although staff will be available for emergencies.
