RESIDENTS in Dawlish are invited to join in as the town marks Ukrainian Independence Day.

Dawlish Town Council is organising a flag raising ceremony on Sunday August 24 at noon to recognise the war torn country’s national day.

The event will take place on the Lawn behind the Bandstand.

A spokesman for the town council said: ‘All are welcome to attend and honour this brave and proud country.’

Dawlish has become home to some of the Ukrainians who have fled the country since the war began more than three years ago.
