THE TWO new Dawlish residents are now one day old.

The cygnets have been braving the world and taking their first steps from under mum Kimba’s wing.

A slight wobble on unsteady feet but they will soon be out on the Brook swimming.

This video footage of the new arrivals was taken by the owners of holiday accommodation Pilchard Cottage.

With forecast heavy rain, volunteer members of the WADE team are monitoring the forecast and making plans to keep all the waterfowl safe on the Brook.

A spokesman for Dawlish Waterfowl Wardens said: ‘Even after the eggs hatch, the parents share the role of keeping the cygnets warm and take turns on the nest.

‘At just one day old, they are almost ready to leave the nest and embark on adventures with their parents.’
