IT was a busy Saturday (August 22) for Dawlish Coastguard, with the team called out twice to incidents along the coast.

The first tasking came at around 1.15pm, when the team was asked to assist RNLI Lifeguards South & East Devon with a casualty who had fallen.

Upon arrival, Teignmouth RNLI lifeguards were administering pain relief.

Coastguard officers helped establish the casualty’s injuries, before arrangements were made for them to travel to hospital with family, following advice from a duty clinician.

Just after 6pm, the team was tasked again, this time to assist Dawlish Fire Station at Dawlish Warren, where a person was reported to be stuck up to their knees in mud.

The casualty had been safely recovered before the Coastguard arrived, and the team was stood down.
