A NEWTON Abbot dad has been fined £180 because his teenage son failed to attend school in Newton Abbot.

The dad how cannot be named, was also ordered to pay £150 costs by South and West Devon Magistrates' Court.

He must also pay £72 to fund victim services.

The case was proved in his absence.
