FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a kitchen fire in a seventh-floor flat in Teignmouth this afternoon.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received the emergency call shortly after 2pm on Tuesday, June 16 and immediately mobilised crews from Teignmouth, Torquay, Newton Abbot, Paignton and Danes Castle.
An Aerial Ladder Platform from Danes Castle and an Incident Command Unit from Totnes were also sent to the scene.
Upon arrival, crews confirmed a fire in the kitchen of a flat on the seventh floor of a two-storey building.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera, a 51mm hose reel jet, a positive pressure ventilation fan and a gas detector to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.
