A THUG who bit off part of a man’s ear in a street attack in Newton Abbot has been jailed.

Kai Webb was said to have bragged about what he had done after the scuffle outside Bar 7 and had blood around his mouth.

Exeter Crown Court heard the attack was part of a six-month spree of offending when Webb ‘went off the rails’ in 2023.

Other offences included robbing a man on Teignmouth seafront and stabbing a man in the back outside a pub in the same town.

Webb, 28, previously of Teignmouth, was sentenced after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, robbery and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He was jailed for seven years with a further two years on licence because of the danger he poses.

The ear-biting incident happened in Market Street in the early hours of April 29, 2023.

During the altercation, the victim fell to the floor with Webb on top of him when Webb bit his ear, resulting in part of it detaching.

Webb was dragged off by door staff and heard boasting ‘I just bit his ear off’ as blood dripped from his face.

The victim was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment but an attempt to reattach the ear part was unsuccessful and the victim has permanent disfigurement.

In July 2023 Webb took part in a violent robbery on Teignmouth seafront.

The victim had been at a music festival and, on the way to his motorhome, was approached by a large group asking for a light.

The man said he only asked for a light but Webb and his friends chased him ‘like a pack of wolves’ into a dead-end where they punched and kicked him.

During the incident Webb produced a 10 inch knife and cut the victim’s hand as he tried to protect himself.

A bag, £300 cash, Samsung phone and an £800 designer jacket were taken.

Webb was later seen on CCTV wearing the jacket.

In October 2023, Webb got into an argument with a man at Rock Bottom bar in Teignmouth in which Webb pulled a knife.

After the fight broke up, blood was seen coming from the victim’s back where he had been stabbed under the rib.

Webb had aggressively spoken to the victim, and when he told him to go away, Webb punched him to the face and offered him a fight around the corner.

The victim saw Webb holding a small knife.

Webb has a long history of violence and was already serving a 43 month prison sentence for another unprovoked assault.

Lee Bremridge, defending, said Webb had been doing well in prison and drink was the root of the problem. Judge David Evans accepted he is remorseful and has ADHD.

After the sentencing, Police Staff Investigator Helen Pring said: ‘Kai Webb is an incredibly dangerous individual who has demonstrated a constant willingness to inflict serious violence upon people unknown to him.

‘Two of the three offences for which Webb has been sentenced involved him carrying a knife and they could easily have proved fatal.

‘All three of these victims suffered serious injury and continue to live with the effects of what happened to them.’
