LOCAL councillors have visited the A382 road improvement scheme to review progress amid concerns about disruption to residents and businesses in Bovey Tracey and Heathfield.

Mayor Cllr Sheila Brooke and Cllr Sally Morgan recently met with contractors working on the project.

And both said they were impressed by the progress being made on site.

Cllr Brooke noted that work was running to schedule despite challenging weather conditions over the winter, while Cllr Morgan praised the efficiency of operations in a constrained site, highlighting the complexity of managing earthworks, utilities and construction simultaneously.

The council said an update will be issued soon confirming the end of Phase 1 and outlining the timetable for Phase 2.

Officials remain hopeful the project will continue on schedule.

The A382 closed between Stover MG Garage and Whitehills from September 2025 for 11 months.

The closure will move to extend between Forches Cross and Stover School for a further 12 months from August.
