DEVON County Council (DCC) heard this week that it has retained it Disability Confident Employer registration.

The scheme is designed to encourage employers to recruit and retain disabled people and those with health conditions.

The registration recognises the work that DCC do as an employer to recruit and support disabled people in its employment.

‘There’s more we can do to support disabled employees and so that our organisation celebrates diversity, where everyone can feel safe, well and able to be themselves’ a spokesperson for DCC said.

‘That’s why we’re taking further actions, including getting a better understanding of the needs of disabled and neurodiverse applicants and employees, and reviewing our recruitment and employment guidance relating to reasonable adjustments and the government’s access to work programme’ the spokesperson added.
