AT its full council meeting, Buckfastleigh Town Councillors awarded a charity a grant worth £500 to help with its soup club..

The council was pleased to award £500 to Moorland Community Care, a charitable organisation whose aim is to provide friendly support to elderly and isolated people in the community; the money is to go toward the very popular Soup and Pudding Club, which runs twice a month and is available to anyone in the Buckfastleigh area aged 50 and over.

Elsewhere in the meeting the Environment Agency provided an update on the new Flood Warning Service for Buckfastleigh, which will be live for residents to subscribe to from December 7.

There was a discussion on the results of the recent Parish Poll and how the town council will move forward in formulating a budget for 2023/24.
