A COOKING appliance caught fire in a Bovey Tracey flat last night, Thursday.

Crews from Bovey Tracey, Moretonhampstead and Ashburton along with a flexi officer were sent to reports of the domestic.

On their Facebook page Bovey Tracey firefighters report: ‘A BA (breathing apparatus) team were committed into the flat where an electrical fault within a cooking appliance had caused the kitchen to become smoke logged.

‘Crews used a hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera and small tools to ensure the area was safe and that there was no undetected fire spread within the property.

‘Please take this opportunity now to ensure your smoke alarms are in good working order and that you and your family have discussed your escape plans.’
