LOCAL organisations, councillors, patients and healthcare staff recently gathered at Ashburton Surgery for a community coffee morning celebrating recent improvements to the practice.

Hosted by the surgery's Patient Participation Group, the event provided an opportunity for visitors to network and take a tour of the refurbished facilities.

Despite wet weather, representatives from a number of community groups attended on Saturday, June 6, including Moorland Community Caring, alongside GPs, surgery staff and members of the public.

Among those present were the Mayor of Ashburton, Councillor Lucy Wood.

During the event, Dr Ben Titford and Ashburton and Buckfastleigh League of Friends chairman John Nutley unveiled a plaque recognising the League of Friends' support towards the refurbishment project.
