CO-OP shoppers have supported the 1st Dawlish Rainbows through the shop’s community fund.

The group is waiting to find out how much money they will benefit from as they have been chosen for the next round of funding for the coming year.

Shoppers can chose the Rainbows as their chosen charity when they make their purchases.

Spokesman Rachel Cridge said: ‘As you can imagine, the last 18 months have been really challenging for small, charitable groups like ours.

‘The pandemic has drastically affected our fundraising efforts, so we’re grateful to have this partnership with the local Co-op.

‘We’re urging local members to choose us as their cause so we can deliver our project and help more people in Dawlish.

‘We’re raising funds to enable all families to join us.

‘Our project will enable all families to take part regardless of financial status, meaning there will be no divide between advantaged and disadvantaged families.

‘We will have an impact on wellbeing by children being able to meet and interact.

‘We have children from all walks of life and different schools.

‘We work together as one regardless of need, school or differences.

‘We would like to support families to be able to join in with Rainbows. Covid-19 has been hard and we have many families in poverty.’

The funding will be used to provide membership and uniforms to those in need.

When members buy selected Co-op branded products and services, 1p from every pound spent goes to support local causes.

Co-op members can select us as their local cause by visiting https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/55973.

Rachel added: ‘We really hope that people will visit the Co-op website or download the Co-op app and select us as their Local Community Fund cause so we can continue making a difference.’
