CHUDLEIGH was flooded with lights to mark the start of the festive season in the town.

Crowds joined to celebrated the annual Christmas Fayre and the switch on of the lights, one of the most popular events in the Chudleigh calendar.

This year Father Christmas was joined by seven children from Chudleigh Primary School and these VIPs led the countdown to switch on the lights in the main square.

There were the usual plentiful food outlets and the Craft Fayre in the Town Hall and Youth Centre was as busy as always.

Alison Neely, chairman of the Chudfest Christmas Lights Committee, said: ‘We start to organise this event in early September and it involves many volunteers,  far too many to give everyone a name check.

‘The community really comes together at this event and it is a joy to be part off. Even the weather behaved itself.’
