CHILDREN at Dunsford C of E Academy got into the spirit of World Book Day dressing up as their favourite book characters.
This year’s theme, Go All In, encouraged children to explore their passions and connect them to reading. Throughout the day, pupils shared their favourite stories, explored new books, and took part in activities designed to promote a love of reading.
A book swap gave children the chance to discover new authors and exchange stories with friends, helping reading come alive in a social and interactive way.
All pupils received a £1 World Book Day token to redeem for special books, giving them another opportunity to explore stories that inspire them.
World Book Day, in partnership with the UK National Year of Reading 2026, is a chance to celebrate reading for pleasure and encourage children to keep imagining, learning, and enjoying the magic of stories.
Liam O’Sullivan, headteacher at Dunsford Community Academy, said: ‘World Book Day was a wonderful occasion at Dunsford.
‘It was brilliant to see our pupils dressed up, sharing stories, and discovering new books together.
‘Events like this really show how reading can be fun, inspiring, and something to enjoy every day.’
Tracey Cleverly, CEO of Learning Academy Partnership, said: ‘When children see stories come alive and share their favourite books with friends, it helps build a passion for reading that will stay with them for years to come.’
