ELECTRIC vehicle chargers in a Chagford car park could soon be powered by solar panels as the parish council submits an application to planners.

The application - reference 0147/26 - is seeking permission for solar panels at Bellacouch Meadows.

The proposal would enable Chagford Parish Council to supply clean green energy to electric vehicle chargers already installed in the car park.

The parish council has a legal agreement with the Chagford Community Trust, who are the owners of the business units.

The agreement gives the council permission to site the panels on the roof of the business units.

Planners at Dartmoor National Park Authority are due to look over the application and make a decision by June 29.
