A TEIGNMOUTH coffee shop has sent a stark warning to would-be vandals ‘we’ve got you on camera’.
Teign Bean Coffee, which operates at Eastcliff in Teignmouth, has reported that attempts were made to damage the premises outdoor seating area.
The owners, who have not reported last night’s incident to police, say they their CCTV system has captured the offenders in action.
Attempts were made to damage the pergola roof and to break into an electric box.
A spokesman for the business said: ‘We have invested a lot of time and effort into making the outside seating area at our Eastcliff site ‘weather proof’ so that the wonderful views can be enjoyed by all even when the weather gods think otherwise.
‘Sadly some people seem to think that is acceptable to attempt to damage our property whilst we are closed and they think no one is watching.
‘However, we ARE watching, and listening, so please kindly refrain from such behaviour if this was you last evening.’
They said on this occasion the ‘incredibly clear’ CCTV footage will not be passed to police but that if there is a next time, they may think otherwise.
A post on social media said: ‘We know what bikes and scooters you ride, what brand of clothing and shoes you wear and because you chose to ‘give the finger’ to our camera we have a wonderful full face shot.
‘To end on a positive though, this was a group of young men only one of whom thought it appropriate to try and damage the pergola roof and break into the electric box.
‘His mates told him not to and prevented the damage so thank you to them.’
