THIS Saturday, July 8, Dawlish Lawn Tennis Club is hosting a 24-hour tennis fundraising day to raise money for their £58,000 new Tiger Turf Advantage Pro artificial grass courts.

The event will feature adult and junior events for different ages and abilities throughout the afternoon, as well as the main 24-hour tennis-a-thon.

Starting at 10am the marathon is open to all, non-members as well as members, family and friends, for just a £4 entry per person.

In addition to the tennis events, there will also be a barbecue selling hot food all day.

All of the proceeds from the event will go into the club’s crowd funding campaign for their new courts, which are scheduled to be installed in October.

‘We’re really excited about this event,’ says club chairman Jason Hatherley. ‘It’s a great opportunity for everyone to come together, have fun, and support a good cause.

‘We’re hoping to raise as much money as possible to help us reach our goal of getting these new courts installed which his needed due to our current surface having deteriorated over the years.  If we can make this huge project a reality it will secure our community based tennis club for decades to come.’

Head coach Robert Elver added: ‘The event promises to be a great day of tennis and community fun, and all are encouraged to come out and join the fun.

'Whether you’re a seasoned player or just looking to get started, there’s something for everyone at this event.  So grab your racket and head down to the local tennis club on Saturday!’
