Independent Ashburton-based Estate Agent HowardDouglas are celebrating their 25th Anniversary this month. The firm first opened its doors in May 1998 and in an age when some estate agents are here today, gone tomorrow, to be operating after 25 years in the business is somewhat an achievement.

It continues in the ownership of its founder Howardwho is very hands-on, working daily with an experienced team of eight staff. Howard was 28 when he started the agency back in 1998 but had already chalked-up 12 years in estate agency locally with  Bettesworths, Rendells and Palmer and Radclyffe -  where he was made at partner at just 22 years of age.

2023 has so far proved to be another busy year for the firm with completions on some wonderful homes including in February Hawson Farm, Scorriton for almost £1,600,000 and Lower Venton Farm , Widecombe from a guide of £1,450,000, plus earlier this month contracts were exchanged on Edgemoor, Bovey Tracey from a guide of £1,250,000 and completion took place on Teign Lawn, Chudleigh Knighton from a guide of £795,000.

The firm’s lettings department has been equally busy adding to their managed property portfolio with the addition of more than 20 properties at Seale Hayne and another 12 in Newton Abbot/Buckfastleigh on behalf of a new private landlord client.

Howard commented “We are all very proud of our achievements but don’t intend to rest on our laurels and have a number of marketing initiatives planned to benefit our clients over the coming months. I would like to sincerely thank all our clients over the last 25 years for entrusting us with their property requirements and look forward to meeting many new clients over the next 25 years and to our 50thAnniversary, though by then I will be 78 so plan to cut back to just a 4 day week!”
