A FIVE-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after the bus he was travelling on collided with a house in Shaldon.

Emergency services were called to Torquay Road at around 6.45pm on Monday, July 27, following reports that a double-decker bus had crashed into a property.

The five-year-old, from Torquay, was a passenger on the bus and sustained serious injuries in the collision.

He was taken to Bristol Children's Hospital for treatment.

Fourteen other passengers were assessed by ambulance crews at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

A man in his 60s from Torbay has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.

He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone or dash-cam footage that could assist the investigation.
