Biker dies in crash on A381 on outskirts of Teignmouth

A MOTORBIKE rider has died after sustaining fatal injuries in a crash on the A381 on the outskirts of Teignmouth today, Monday.

Police say the biker sadly died at the scene following a collision with a black Kia car on the A381 Bishopsteignton Road Road near the Broadmeadow Industrial Estate in Teignmouth.

The accident happened at around midday and police cordoned off the road leading to tailbacks and delays in the area while emergency services tried to resuscitate the biker and investigate the collision.

A police spokesperson said: ‘The rider of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene despite life-saving efforts by the emergency services.’

The incident caused traffic congestion throughout the area with diversions put in place. The road was closed until 7pm while crash investigators carried out their work.

The police spokesperson for continued ‘We had to close the road for the purpose of investigation into the circumstances of the collision.

‘We are now appealing for any witnesses and drivers with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward and call 101 with the reference number 364 of today’s date.’
