A GROUP from two Newton Abbot based businesses are backing Rowcroft Hospice’s 40th birthday celebrations by going on a marathon bike ride.

They are asking people to support them and, most importantly, sponsor them to help raise money for our hospice.

PMR Architecture and Simply Green Estate Agents have set the challenge to cycle from the North to South coast in Devon by starting in Barnstaple and finishing in Plymouth on Sunday, August 21.

A spokesperson for the group said: ‘However, Shaun, Matt and Steve are going to start from Newton Abbot, cycle to Barnstaple and then continue their gruelling challenge with the rest of the team down to Plymouth.

‘Who knows if they’ll have anything left in the bag after all of that to cycle back to Newton Abbot!’

Paul said: ‘I struggle to find someone that hasn’t had a family member that’s had to go into a hospice and receive end of life care.

‘Each and every hospice is special and they all have amazing people that work and volunteer there. Unfortunately fund raising is a massive part of the way that they stay open, therefore we have decided to push ourselves with the aim of helping them to raise their £40,000 target from 40 local companies.

‘Please donate an amount that you feel comfortable with, every penny helps as they say.’
