A GENERATOR fire in a barn in Buckfastleigh was confirmed to be accidental by the fire service after a prompt response and successful extinguishing efforts by local crews.

Fire control at Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the fire just before 7pm on Friday, February 27.

Three fire engines - from Buckfastleigh, Ashburton and Totnes, along with a water bowser from Torquay - were sent to the property in West Buckfastleigh.

Upon arrival, the crew confirmed a portable generator was well alight, with as many as six firefighters committed to putting the fire out.

‘This fire was confirmed to be accidental’, a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.
