A VEHICLE was 90 per cent damaged in a fire at Hennock yesterday evening (Tuesday).

Fire control received calls regarding a vehicle fire in Chudleigh Knighton.

A fire engine from Bovey Tracey responded.

A Fire Control spokesperson said: ‘On arrival crews confirmed that the vehicle was well alight.

‘Crews got to work with a dry powder extinguisher, a hose reel jet to tackle the fire.

‘They used hydraulic cutting equipment to gain access to the engine and environmental absorption pads to soak up the fuel and oil spillage preventing contamination of the ground.

‘Crews moved the vehicle with a winch to a safer location and isolated the battery to await recovery.

‘The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental and resulted in 90 per cent fire damage.’
