Teignmouth NCI celebrates National Coast Watch Day

We started the afternoon off with Watch Keepers meeting at the Teignmouth Lookout to form a ‘Guard of Honor’ for mayor and mayoress, Iain and Jackie Palmer, they then visited inside our lookout to see first-hand the excellent work our volunteers do, providing the ‘Eyes Along The Coast’.

Photos were taken to celebrate National Coast Watch day and the formal re-opening of our Lookout for members of the public to visit once again, for the first time in over two years, so these were good reasons to celebrate, and what better way to that than with an Afternoon Tea!

The mayor and mayoress joined over 35 Watch Keepers and their guests on La Terrasse, located on the roof top of the Teign Heritage Centre with lovely views over Teignmouth town.

The weather was kind to us, albeit a bit blowy, but nevertheless a superb afternoon tea was enjoyed by all, a raffle was held and the mayor had some fun drawing the winners but we raised over £170 for our Lookout!

It was also a great opportunity to hand out some of our new Water Safety leaflets, especially as it was the busy powerboat racing and jet ski demo weekend, so it was very busy on the water keeping us on our toes!
