FIRE crews put out a blaze in the storage area of a Teignmouth retail business this afternoon (Monday).

Fire control received calls to report a fire at the premises in Higher Coombe Drive, Teignmouth, at 3.40pm.

Control immediately mobilised two fire engines from Teignmouth, one fire engine from Dawlish alongside an aerial ladder platform from Torquay.

A spokesperson said: ‘On arrival crews confirmed that the ground floor to be smoke logged and got to work to identify the cause using breathing apparatus.

‘Crews quickly established a fire on the ground floor of the property in the storage area and extinguished the fire.

‘Fire crews ventilated the property to clear the smoke using a Positive Pressure Ventilation Fan.

‘The fire crews used two breathing apparatus, one Positive Pressure Ventilation Fan, one hose reel jet and one safety jet.

‘The cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.’
