A TEIGNMOUTH drink-driver was given a 20 month ban by South and West Devon Magistrates' Court.

Paul Andrew James Spear, aged 40, of Bitton Park Road, pleaded guilty to driving on the A38 at Drumbridges, Newton Abbot, while he was over the limit. He gave a reading of 73 mcgs of alcohol in 100 mls of breath. The legal limit is 35 mcgs.

Spear was banned from driving for 20 months which can be reduced by 20 weeks if he completes a course.

He was also fined £507 and ordered to pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service and £203 to fund victim services.
